File Magnet

Starting with FileMagnet I’m going to start writing mini-reviews and comments on iPhone applications and how I get on with them.
I’ve been thinking about doing this over the past week but never got round to it, however I just bought FileMagnet for £2.99 and i feel compelled to write about it. This is very much to the applications credit.
I should firstly point out that FileMagnet relies on a OS X based application and so it is currently Mac only although the developers do claim to be researching a Windows based alternative. So what is it? Quite simply it allows you to dump files on your iPhone (or iPod Touch) and view them on the road. My need was to take a number of PDF’s with me and finding that I couldn’t print having temporarily re-assigned my Airport Express to its Air Tunes duty I considered this as an alternative. So having bought the app and installed it, and after visiting the developers site to pick up my free download of the delivery application I now have the required files on my iPhone. The process was very simple and very quick. I dump the files on the delivery application, start the iPhone app and they whizz over wirelessly. Easy.

FileMagnet also supports plenty of other popular file formats including iLife files, Office files, pictures, movies, etc. I’ve only viewed PDF’s (in fact I’ve spent more time writing this than using FileMagnet) but they looked great on the display with the interface very clean and functional.
