Will work for food

Work has not treated me kindly of recent and despite my best efforts there seems to be no upturn. With the situation as it is I’ve decided to look around for alternative employment either permanent or on a contract basis. It’s not been an easy decision as I have existing clients that I still deal with but the hard facts are that I’m not covering overheads.

My experience is varied and its been hard to put together a CV. I don’t think that I could ever have a resume that is truly reflective of my experience and my skills such is the range of work I’ve been involved with in the past. My managers, staff and peers of old will be testament to this and have seen how resourceful and flexible I can be. So it looks as though all the work I’ve done in areas such as media and graphic design, photography, video production, presentational and marketing material and PACS medical imaging system will have to take a back seat. I’m sorry I can’t offer you a job (not unless you want to work for £6,000 a year cleaning mice and keyboards in the South East), but I did read your CV because I am a nosy bast.

Imagine my surprise when I found we may have a common acquaintance… When you were at Stockport College, did you know someone called Terry Newman?

Stockport College is a big place. What did he do there?

Can I but in on the mutual friend discussage to say “ouch, sorry to hear that dude”. I don’t think I know anyone in the North West, but I’ll ask around.

We’ve jobs for developers, project managers and trainers coming up on a regular basis at our Leeds office if that’s any good for you? I’ll let you know of any vacancies.

Good luck with the job hunt!

He taught mechanical maintenance and electrical installation in the 80s.

Thanks Neil.

deKay, I don’t recall the name. I was doing an electrical apprenticeship and working through City and Guilds 236 pt 1 & 2 at the Hempshaw lane annex. I then moved over to the main campus to do the 236 pt 3 “C” cert Electrical Technicians course (which I passed with distinctions) :)

That would have put me around 1984 to 1987. See here: http://www.ugvx.com/modules/coppermine/albums/userpics/Student-Union-Card.jpg :D

You know, you could always reform with the rest of Duran Duran and try to relaunch your music career…

Thanks Choobs.. I’d have thanked you earlier if you weren’t a serial collector of domains and email addresses. Your comment was sat in moderation since you have yet another new identity ;)
