This may be overlooked by many in the mainstream due to its Spanish soundtrack and English subtitles but that shouldn’t detract from one of the best crafted films I have ever seen.

I’m not one for writing artsy reviews. People who write those start to analyse film too much and then miss the point of a good blockbuster popcorn film where you leave your brain at the cinema entrance. However I will say that this film was enchanting, haunting, emotional, and at times, very violent. The trailer doesn’t quite portray that and it can come as a bit of a shock. Certainly my daughter decided that she couldn’t watch any more that the first 30 minutes, which is good as it saved me having to send her out of the room, but if you look beyond the violence you start to understand the story.
