Christmas is coming
with a present to myself. A new iSight. Not that I have anyone to talk to. All
my contacts are on MSN Messenger
mic with Skype to talk with my Dad.
So
what’s on my Christmas list? I have been a little lost since my IPAQ went a bit
wonky with the text entry area not responding properly, so with that passed on
to James I decided to consider a new replacement. I initially considered a phone
but with the 3G services just coming out of Orange and a raft of new phones on
the horizon I thought I’d wait. I had took a look at a SE K700i but if I did go
3G my choices are the new SE clamshell affair or the Nokia offering. I have had
a clamshell for years now but the SE just doesn’t appeal despite its iSync
compatibility. The Nokia looks ok (still not setting my world alight though) but
it looks like you’d have to gamble on support in the next version of iSync
(Tiger?). So with this all in mind I thought I’d go back and look at the PDA
market.
Now with Windows (spit) and
Pocket PC off the menu I took a look at the Palm arena. I was quite excited
about this as my IPAQ had replaced a string of Palm devices ending in a Palm V.
That has to rate among the sexiest bits of kit I’ve ever owned (Apple excluded)
and although lured away by the colour screen and features of the Pocket PC I
still yearned for its simplicity and compactness.
So looking at the Tungsten range I
like the look of the T3 with its nice silver case and compact form, but I got a
bit nervous that I would regret not getting a T5 in the long term with its more
impressive memory. So T5 it was and there it sits, wrapped under the tree.
Luckily the waiting is not too hard as I’ve been busy setting up my iCal and
address book after finally ditching Entourage and to top things off I got hold
of a bluetooth adaptor (I wish I would have known that I couldn’t retrofit the
standard Apple offering when I bought my
G5).
Looks like I’m going to have a
very organised Christmas day… up to around 8pm where I’m scheduled to pass out
